ABSTRACT. Traditionally, a vast majority of Ionesco’s scholars and critics focus on such topics as his depiction of the human condition, his political statements, his metaphysical approach of intellectual exile, and his philosophy of death. Since inception, the “ontological void” of Ionesco’s literary universe, with its “nothingness,” with its clichés, and with its absurd syllogisms and fossilized language represents the topic the most approached by the scholars of the absurdist theatre. pp. 206–212
