ABSTRACT. The purpose of this study is to examine tradeable digital assets, immersive extended reality technologies, and blockchain-based virtual worlds in the metaverse economy. In this article, I cumulate previous research findings indicating that audio, visual, and haptic technologies, equipment, and machinery articulate immersive multisensory digital experiences through customer biometric and sensory data, integrating purchase history and user preferences. I contribute to the literature on metaverse technologies by showing that immersive experiences developed on retail technology and predictive analytical solutions improve consumer buying behavior, conscious consumerism, customer order last-mile delivery, business workflows, and logistics network. Throughout January 2022, I performed a quantitative literature review of the Web of Science, Scopus, and ProQuest databases, with search terms including “metaverse” + “tradeable digital assets,” “immersive extended reality technologies,” and “blockchain-based virtual worlds.” As I inspected research published in 2022, only 78 articles satisfied the eligibility criteria. By eliminating controversial findings, outcomes unsubstantiated by replication, too imprecise material, or having similar titles, I decided upon 9, generally empirical, sources. Data visualization tools: Dimensions (bibliometric mapping) and VOSviewer (layout algorithms). Reporting quality assessment tool: PRISMA. Methodological quality assessment tools include: AXIS, Dedoose, MMAT, and SRDR.

Keywords: metaverse; economy; reality; technology; blockchain; digital asset
