ABSTRACT. This study examines the potential of AI to transform the practice of architecture, emphasizing the contributions of generative AI towards the construction of physical spaces, citizen outreach engagement, and the management of big data towards smart city frameworks. The paper relies on primary quantitative data that is both methodological and empirically comprehensive, as it is supplemented by literature reviews, surveys, experimental scenarios, and statistical analyses of responses from 44 professionals in urban planning, AI, and policy. The survey and trial response data are used to measure the effectiveness of AI across urban principles research across the efficiency, inclusivity, scalability, and sustainability axes. A key finding drawn from the reviewed literature is that AI is a crucial factor in accomplishing the sustainable development agenda, including optimizing forms and shapes of cities and enhancing energy efficiency and climate change resilience. The research further points to cost as a significant barrier towards adoption and utilization of AI solutions especially in the context of developing countries and small and medium enterprises. Collaborative frameworks are essential for incor- porating interdisciplinary and multisectoral knowledge to manage the complexity of urban problems.
