A QUESTION OF TRUST: COGNITIVE CAPITALISM, DIGITAL REPUTATION ECONOMY, AND ONLINE LABOR MARKETS
ELVIRA NICA, ANA-MADALINA POTCOVARU, CATALINA-OANA MIRICA (DUMITRESCU)ABSTRACT. We follow Gandini (2016) in clarifying the function of reputation as the essential endowment for digital and freelance knowledge employees, the significance of intangible assets for the corporate realm, and the advance of a financial economy contingent on brand valuation. The article generates insights about the collective role of reputation as the starting place for instituting trust among quasi-strangers, the expanding interference of digital technologies in the creative and administrative regimes, and the capitalization of the latterly mediated professional social connections that occur throughout the online sphere.
