ICT’S COMMITMENT TO ENERGY SUSTAINABILITY AND REDUCING GHG EMISSIONS
GHEORGHE H. POPESCUABSTRACT. The purpose of this article is to gain a deeper understanding of the significance of information and communication technologies (ICTs) for competitiveness, work rate and growth, the difficult tasks in handling the social intricacy of environmental interests, and the character of green sustainability in the information epoch. The theory that I shall seek to elaborate here puts considerable emphasis on the demand of considerable production modifications so that ICT attain decreases in greenhouse gas (GHG) releases, the manners ICTs can further a worldwide knowledge society, and the interplay between economic spheres and the natural world. The analysis presented in this paper contributes to research on the relevance of sophisticated ICT systems as the bedrock for innovation, the social and technological workings by which green IT is partly responsible for sustainable living, and the environmental advantages and effects of ICTs. ICT can assist in establishing associations between human-scale operation and wider environ¬mental interests. pp. 57–62
