ABSTRACT. Watts and Zimmerman utilize size to proxy for a firm's political sensitivity and thus the incentive of managers to select income-decreasing accounting choices. Davis-Friday et al. examine the impact of the interaction between the economic environment and corporate governance on the value relevance of book value and earnings.
