ABSTRACT. Kant's idea of virtue as moral strength in opposing passions can be linked to his notion of freedom and self-governance. Kant provides extensive arguments concerning which particular representations must be understood as derived from our own cognitive capabilities, and arguments that such representations must be understood as transcendentally ideal.
