Real-Time Health-related Data, Wearable Medical Sensor Devices, and Smart Cyber-Physical Systems
Nicole Kenrick et al.ABSTRACT. Based on an in-depth survey of the literature, the purpose of the paper is to better understand the relationship between real-time health-related data, wearable medical sensor devices, and smart cyber-physical systems. Using and replicating data from Accenture, CBInsights, McKinsey&Co., MarketsandMarkets, Philips, Statista, and Zebra Technologies, we performed analyses and made estimates regarding projected global Internet of Things enabled sensors market in 2022 (by segment, %), top ten perceived barriers to adoption of connected technology (%), total available market for Internet of Things technology by 2025 (in billion $), and the market for connected medical devices (in billion $). Data were analyzed using structural equation modeling.
Keywords: real-time health-related data; wearable medical sensor device
