ABSTRACT. Industry 4.0 and the resulting smart manufacturing are the nodes for the more efficient and productive production paradigms. In particular, within the realm of transformative technologies has evolved generative Artificial Intelligence (AI), which plays an essential role in the manufacturing industries, namely in predictive maintenance and production efficiency. This research aims to investigate how generative AI transforms predictive maintenance and production efficiency in smart factories, focusing on its implementation strategies, performance metrics, and impact on manufacturing outcomes. The study will examine both theoretical frameworks and practical applications, contributing to the growing body of knowledge in smart manufacturing and Industry 4.0 technologies.
