ABSTRACT. The purpose of this study is to examine 3D modeling and simulation technologies, machine vision and path planning algorithms, and computational intelligence and digital twin simulation tools. Throughout January 2023, we performed a quantitative literature review of the Web of Science, Scopus, and ProQuest databases, with search terms including “the industrial metaverse” + “digital twin-based cyber-physical production and interactive 3D geo-visualization systems,” “virtual machine and image processing computational algorithms,” and “ambient sound recognition and decision intelligence tools.” As we inspected research published between 2022 and 2023, only 141 articles satisfied the eligibility criteria. By removing controversial findings, outcomes unsubstantiated by replication, too imprecise material, or having similar titles, we decided upon 25, generally empirical, sources. Data visualization tools: Dimensions (bibliometric mapping) and VOSviewer (layout algorithms). Reporting quality assessment tool: PRISMA. Methodological quality assessment tools include: AXIS, Dedoose, MMAT, and SRDR.
JEL codes: D53; E22; E32; E44; G01; G41
