ABSTRACT. The objective of this paper is to emphasize the rise of BRICs in world trade, the recent phase of high growth in Africa, the BRICs models of capitalism, and India’s pattern of growth. The theory that I shall seek to elaborate here puts considerable emphasis on the role of institutional and political factors in attracting FDI in the economies of the BRICS, the short- and long-run relationships between inflation and economic growth in the BRICS, GDP growth in the BRIC countries, and the unequal distribution of wealth, risk and income in South Africa. pp. 48–53
