ABSTRACT. This paper aims to analyze and discuss the stigma of criminal punishment, the increasingly complex nature of crime, the moral wrongness of violations of criminal law, the political morality of criminal law, and the exercise of state power in punishment. The paper generates insights about the nature and justification of the criminal justice system, the place of punishment in the criminal justice system, the practices of the criminal justice system, the structure of criminal liability, and the scope and content of criminal law. pp. 110–115
