ABSTRACT. The theory that we shall seek to elaborate here puts considerable emphasis on the subversive power of folklore, the supernatural in folk legends, the tenacity of folk beliefs, the knowledge of folk metaphysics, and the pervasiveness of folk beliefs. The mainstay of the paper is formed by an analysis of the acquisition and generation of folklore as a renewable resource across cultures, the formal structural characteristics of folkloristic genres, the difference between etic and emic analysis of folktales, and the constituent elements of folktales. pp. 202–207

Keywords: folkloristic genre, supernatural, folk legend, culture
