ABSTRACT. The purpose of this article is to gain a deeper understanding of the ecological rationality of the recognition heuristic, heuristic decision-making in people, and the employment of judgment heuristics to make social decisions. The current study has extended past research by elucidating heuristic processing in reasoning, efficient decision heuristics, and the determinants that regulate the impact of the inherence heuristic on individuals’ assessments. The overall results provide strong evidence for the requirements for competitive exactness of psychological heuristics, the function of heuristic propensities in human thinking, and the choice and configuration of heuristics in social and physical settings. pp. 132–137
