Late last year I wrote to a group of scholars about a possible experiment with my new journal Knowledge Cultures under the heading of “Education, Philosophy and Political Economy” with an invitation to respond in a short piece to an article I wrote called “Four Contexts for Philosophy of Education and its Relation to Economic Policy”. I had originally written the piece very quickly – almost over night – in order to clarify my own thoughts and then I entertained the idea of this editorial experiment as a means of exploring responses to one set of ideas that were boldly stated and designed to provoke. pp. 15–16
