ABSTRACT. Our paper contributes to the literature by providing evidence on the influence of the Christian and humanist traditions in Europe, the recognition of religious perspectives within EU law, the historical and cultural role of religions in Europe, the participation of religious bodies in European public life, and religious influence over EU law. The paper generates insights about Europe’s growing religious diversity, the monopolistic character of European churches, the gradation of religious decline across Europe, the decline of Christian practice, and the weakness of European Christianity. pp. 235–240

Keywords: religious body, European public life, Christianity, Islam
