ABSTRACT. Though the digital technology of blogging is new, the concept of citizen journalism is not. Likewise, citizen journalism offers little threat to traditional journalism. This paper examines the mundane roots of citizen journalism in the earliest expressions of communal curiosity to modern electronic commentary. The author argues citizen journalism, through its intrinsically personal nature complements rather than replaces traditional journalism. pp. 103–118
