THE INFLUENCE OF SCIENTIFIC ARTICLES ON THE ACCUMULATION OF KNOWLEDGE
GEORGE LAZAROIUABSTRACT. The purpose of this paper is to gain a deeper understanding of the nexus between the exponential increase in research productivity, the use of citation counts as a measure of scientific impact, the ethics of research, and the extent to which research is manipulative. The theory that we shall seek to elaborate here puts considerable emphasis on the form and content of research, the increasing regulation of scientific research, and citations as indicator of scientific impact. pp. 150–156
