ABSTRACT. This article reviews recent literature concerning the blending of Cloud Internet of Things with industry 4.0 in healthcare systems and applications. Building my argument by drawing on data collected from Aruba, Deloitte, MarketsandMarkets, PAC, Philips, Statista, and Zebra Technologies, I performed analyses and made estimates regarding the impact of Industrial Internet of Things on manufacturing industries worldwide, the proportion of the total digital transformation spending dedicated to Internet of Things, the way medtech is transforming from an innovative product supplier to an insightful partner for patients and health care, rewarded for improving health care performance, the market for connected medical devices, top ten perceived barriers to adoption of connected technology, estimated percentage of connected medical devices today and in five years’ time, and Internet of Things endpoint spending worldwide by category.
