ABSTRACT. This essay is an attempt to explore the delicate interface between creativity and the human mind that senses the impermanence of all being. The poetry of William Wordsworth and W. B. Yeats are analyzed, with a view to understanding how the idea of time, ageing and creative tension intervene to generate a poetics of transience and transformation, through which the creative mind tries to cope with the evanescent nature of phenomenal reality.
