ABSTRACT. Our paper contributes to the literature by providing evidence on the relationship between religion and politics in the liberal polity, the regulation of particular religious practices, the role of religion in the liberal polity, and the political implications of religious pluralism. The findings of this study have implications for the role of ethics and religion in guiding the political conduct of citizens in democratic societies, the constitutional treatment of religion, the requirement of government neutrality toward religion, the relationship of government and religious belief, and religious imagery and its role in public life. pp. 230–235
