CONTEMPORARY MAINSTREAM WEB JOURNALISM AND THE INTERACTIVE NATURE OF THE ONLINE NEWS EXPERIENCE PDF Print E-mail
Written by GEORGE LAZAROIU
ABSTRACT. The material gathered in this study provides a rich and diverse context for understanding the interactive nature of the online news experience, the new globally organized news media, the dangers of the commercialization of journalism, the merging of the old and new logics of content production, the rhetorical dimension of the news, and the growing presence of users as content producers in the new media environment. Thus, our aim in this paper is to examine influences impacting media performance, blogging as a legitimate platform for journalism, ethical journalism in the emerging news environment, new interactive technologies of news dissemination and user-generated content, contemporary mainstream web journalism, and changes in news production practices. We argue for a more critical approach to the issues raised in this paper. pp. 101–107
